Oakland Gardens was a located on the shore of Quaboag Lake in the Pine Lane, Oak Ave. and Hobbs Ave. area. Brookfield Times, July 2, 1885 an article reads --although not one of the pleasantest days, yet no less than 300 parties out driving stopped at the Oakland Gardens Hotel, and enjoyed a dinner of baked clams, clam chowder and other accessories. This is getting to be a very popular resort for all in the vicinity of eight or ten miles. |
