Due to a Memorial Event for William (Billy) Knight on the Common and Mall, Common Street will be closed to traffic on Friday, May 10, 2013. Cpl, Knight was listed as Missing in Action in North Korea on December 6, 1950. After the was ended and prisoners from the North Korean Armies and the United Nations were exchanged, Billy Knight was listed as Killed in Action. His remains were found in North Korea in 2002 after DNA matches from his brothers and dental records. "Brookfield citizens should be proud of this young, 20 year old soldier and hero who sacrificed all so nearly 30 million South Korean allies are free today." (Robert Wilder)
